Entrepreneurial Alchemy (EA) has been the forum and catalyst for the development of the following since its inception in October 2013:
1). EA led the development of the original Pitchfest @ the Showcase for Commerce (now PiTTchfest), in 2015 where local entrepreneurs from the community, and university/post-secondary schools compete for cash and prizes worth up to 10K annually. This was done in conjunction with Pitt Johnstown, the Chamber, and JARI. PIttch Fest. In 2015, Pittchfest grew again to include companies from Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, and Bucknell, as well as additional community applicants, each competing in separate categories for prize money and business assistance.
2). EA developed the idea and inaugural Industry and Intern Tour that took students from Pitt Johnstown to visit 17 companies in winter/spring 2015 to have direct tours of companies and the chance to follow-up on internship options. This was done in conjunction with Pitt Johnstown, JARI, and the Chamber.
3). EA acted as the lead grant writer and project presenter to the Heinz Endowments and Community Foundation Intern Philanthropy grant board that developed the local events Mobile App for Johnstown/Cambria County/Somerset, Bedford, and beyond, called Allegheny Underground (www.alleghenyunderground.org)
This project was done in conjunction with EA, the City of Johnstown, ACRP, and Pitt Johnstown. Professor Skip Glenn of Pitt Johnstown is the project development leader.
4). EA has partnered with CAMTRAM to develop a public student-centric bus route demonstration in fall 2015 that will help unlock the 5000 plus university and community college students in Richland and bring them on a regular route to downtown Johnstown in a 1 hour loop for internships, dining and recreation.
